How to Cure Razor Burn

March 20, 2007 (Comments)

Martin, Helsingborg, Sweden asks
Question: I started to hate shaving because I always get that razor burn when I shave. Could you suggest how to cure razor burn?

Answer:

Hardly anyone knows how to cure razor burn permanently, but there are few things you can do to prevent or at least diminish it.

Make sure that you always use very sharp razor so that you don’t inflame your skin. Shave lightly and don’t pass many times over the same area. Shave in direction of growth, never against. It’s essential for avoiding razor burn that you soften your skin as much as possible before shaving. Hot water and skin-softening products will help. You’ll help reduce razor burn if you apply moisturizer before applying shaving foam. After you finished shaving always rinse with cold water.

Of course, other option to avoid razor burn is to grow a beard. They’re making a big comeback. Catch the newest trend and solve your razor burn problem at the same time.
