Why and How To Use a Face Cleanser
Let’s face it; your face is the first thing that you see every day of your life! You also get to look at it every time you look in the mirror. Regardless of whether or not you think you’re good looking, you want to keep your face looking the best it can.
This translates into keeping your skin looking the best it can. We all have likes and dislikes about our skin (i.e., pimples, scars, blackheads, wrinkles, etc.) and keeping it clean is always the place to start before you can address other issues.
Your skin needs to be cleaned both in the morning and at night. You have to use a skin cleanser in the morning because at night your body detoxifies and your skin is one way the toxins come out. Your skin has also collected oil on it through the night, which must be washed off to keep the pores clean and clear.
Your skin must also be cleaned at night - this is crucial! Even if your skin looks clean at night it is not. All day long your skin is a magnet for oil and dirt particles that are floating around in the air.
This is especially true for those of you who live in or near a major city. One way to test this is to get yourself a skin toner and at night moisten a cotton ball with a little toner. Then take the moistened cotton ball and swirl it around your forehead, nose, cheeks and neck. You will be surprised to see a VERY dirty cotton ball. All that dirt would stay on your skin and clog your pores if you didn’t use a facial cleanser at night! This would cause breakouts, blackheads, and create an unhealthy environment on the surface of your skin.
Now that you know to use face cleanser in the a.m. and p.m., here’s the best way to do it. First, wash your hands with an all-natural soap (you don’t want to use a cleanser with dirty hands that will make your skin even dirtier!). Then, moisten a clean washcloth in WARM water (not hot water!). Before using your cleanser take the washcloth and wipe it over your face one time. This will help remove the surface dirt and moisten the skin. Rinse the washcloth and set it down. Then, with moist hands, put some cleanser on the tips of your fingers. Put both hand together and in small circular motions create foam. (Note - some cleansers will foam up more than others - if your cleanser does not foam up a lot, it doesn’t mean it’s not a good cleanser!)Â Then using both hands swirl your cleanser on your face in small circular motions making sure to concentrate on your forehead, nose, cheeks and neck. Moisten your washcloth with tepid water and rinse off all the cleanser.
Your face is now clean of all pore clogging debris and is ready to be moisturized!
