Using a Face Scrub

You may ask yourself “do I need to use a face scrub, yet another product to use on my skin” - the answer is, YES! I know you probably don’t want to buy another skin care product, or take the time using it, but a face scrub is very important.

The primary goal of a face scrub is to slough off the top, dead layer of skin from your face leaving it smooth and helping to clean out the pores of blackheads and other impurities.

Routine cleansing is not enough to remove the dead skin cells and deeply embedded impurities, which can leave the skin lifeless and prone to blackheads and breakouts. Exfoliation is necessary to remedy this. Using a face scrub in the shower will also help with your morning shave by lifting the beard helping you to get a closer shave. It also can loosen ingrown hairs to help prevent those nasty razor bumps.

When selecting a facial scrub, look for natural products with finely ground nutshells, pumice, apricot kernels, etc., or larger rounded polyethylene beads. These will exfoliate the skin without digging into the pores of your skin.

Men with moderate to severe acne and/or pimples should consider not using a facial scrubs as it could potentially irritate the skin even more. A scrub can at times aggravate the situation making it worse.

One of the best ways to use a face scrub is as follows. Keep or bring your face scrub in the shower. As part of your morning shower “routine”, after the heat from the water creates a nice steam, opening your pores, first cleanse your skin with your face cleanser. After rinsing, take a small amount of your face scrub across the tips of your fingers. In a circular motion gently massage the scrub across your forehead, nose, cheeks and neck.

For those of you that are bald, or shave your head, feel free to gently use the scrub on top of your head too. Take the time to gently work the face scrub into the skin. Yes, gently! It will not work better if you are to harsh. You don’t want to damage your skin!

When you have the time, leave the scrub on while you soap up your body, as your skin will benefit from the nutrients in the scrub. Then wash off the scrub under the shower head. Take your fingers while under the shower head and gently check to make sure you don’t feel any of the scrub left on your skin.

Your skin is now clean and glowing and ready for the next step!
