Fall/Winter Accessories Trends for Men

What’s the word on the street this year for men’s fall/winter accessories? Sophistication. Wrapping up a classy ensemble with a strategically chosen accessory can pull a look together that creates a stylish look without being too formal. Even a casual look can be streamlined with a trendy fall/winter accessory (think sweater tied around the neck–yes, it’s still a popular look). When choosing fall/winter accessories, look for a streamlined look with a touch of color. The necktie is making a comeback, but in narrow, subdued colors that accent (rather than dominate) a look, whether it’s an evening out casual or business formal presentation. Scarves are also a big hit in fall/winter accessories this year, from hand knit creations (indulge your girlfriend or wife–chances are she’s taken up the hot trend of knitting) to multi-colored designer options.

The metal chain can be used to securely fasten your wallet or keys to your jeans, just keep the metal to a reasonable size. A fairly narrow chain can be a complimentary accessory without making people afraid to pass you too close should you decide to turn suddenly. And keep those wallets streamlined and classic, or at least have two versions; one the sophisticated every day version and another whimsical style if it’s an absolute must.

Belts can also sport a bit of metal to accent a semi-dressy outfit. Adding a touch of excitement balances the look and provides an element of surprise. However, if you’re not into too much metal, you can limit the look to the belt buckle or stay with a classic narrow belt look. Both add the touch of sophistication.

Into reading? Streamlined glasses are still in, and there’s something women find really attractive about a well-read man. The “smart” look is again, one of sophistication. The overly muscular guy of the past has stepped off the radar; now the look is balance in everything from physique, to work, and to hobbies, and is reflected in men’s current styles.

Need to take a few items with you? Plenty of masculine bags are available for your use. Larger than a purse, and smaller than a suitcase, the man’s bag is all about style and functionality. As the look this fall/winter leans toward the masculine side, choose rugged colors found in nature and you’re set for the season.

Open shirts are in this season, so accent your chest with a solid necklace that falls between a wimpy chain and the armor of the 1980s. Today’s necklace is bold, combining leather and stones, a perfect combination of elegance and masculinity, taking the cue from rockers of days gone by.

Finally, think color. Use accessories to toss in a bit of this season’s hottest colors, such as black, purple, gray, and brown. Save yourself the expense of buying the trendy clothing styles in the brighter colors and use accessories (remember those scarves?) instead. This will keep your look hot and your wallet not.
