Youth Oriented Trends in Urban Fashion – Now and Then
Walking around flea market the other day I figured out that that place can give urban “fashionistas” great insight about what are the latest trends in urban fashion. Then ago so can a walk through some of the malls, where every store sells urban brands such as Red Monkey and Evisu, and older, more established brands that are posited for urban use, such as Lacoste, or old favorites like Polo Ralph Lauren.
I noticed that the new trend is anything in bright colors, which reminded me that it was the trend in urban fashion in my teenage days too. I loved those bright colors that were popularized back in the eighties and was a huge fan of vintage urban fashion like Karl Kani and Pelle Pelle. Well everything that is old comes around again, and just like I dreamed about copping that bright pink Versace jacket or that white Prada windbreaker or a fuchsia D&G sweater back in the nineties, today’s kids want the latest sneakers in 5 ultra-bright colors or the contrast of typically baggy denim contrasted with ultra-soft, overly comfortable cotton.
I’ll admit though that some of these kids’ fashion is appealing to me even today. I just love Puma’s new colloboration with Evisu. Take a look at these great jeans: Evisu, and let me know what you think. The best of Puma’s simplistic sensibilities and high-quality ethos along with Evisu’s street chic make this the ultimate pair of jeans for the summer. They’re loose, but not overly baggy like I used to wear them ten years ago, with a hint of chic that I just can’t get from my trust pair of Polo.
