Buying Groomsmen Gifts

Groomsmen giftsWith all the things a groom has to think about prior to his wedding day, it’s no surprise that even the most organized of husbands-to-be often leave groomsmen gifts to the very last minute. Of course, by then it’s just one more piece of stress; what should you buy? What sort of gift is most personal? Do groomsmen even care about presents?

But contrary to popular opinion, the choosing and purchasing of groomsmen gifts doesn’t have to be a panic-attack-inducing hassle. In fact, it’s usually a lot of fun, even if you’re one of those guys with a serious aversion to shopping of any kind. You just need to know where (and how) to look, so sit back and take a deep breath — this will be completely painless.

Playing to Personal Taste

Your groomsmen may be the best buddies you’ve ever had, but that doesn’t mean you can just toss them any sort of gift and expect them to be charmed. In order to find the most appropriate groomsmen gifts, you’ve got to consider each person’s lifestyle and individual taste. What do they do for a living? Are they laid back or luxurious? For instance, if most of your groomsmen work in offices, brand new business card holders are a fantastic idea, as are personalized money clips. But don’t get your heart so set on a gift that you fail to consider whether or not your groomsmen will actually use it; miniature flasks may seem perfect at the time, but may not the best idea if, say, one of your groomsmen doesn’t drink.

Adding an Individual Touch

Groomsmen gifts are, by their very nature, extremely personal items. So what do you do if you’ve decided on a mostly business-like gift, one that doesn’t carry a whole lot of personality on its own? Even if your gifts are as business-like and common as they come, you can still inject some character into them by adding an engraved message. Consider business card holders with each groomsman’s initials engraved on the front, or pocket watches with a special, personal message to each of your friends. Personal engraving is by far the best way to add some individuality to your groomsmen gifts, and it’s usually very cost-effective. Just make sure to steer clear of engraving the date of the wedding or the name of your bride; this is a personal gift between you and the groomsmen who’ve been there for you, not necessarily a keepsake from the day itself.

Remember the Message

By far the most important thing to keep in mind when choosing your groomsmen gifts is the message you’re trying to impart. These are, after all, your best friends; they’ve been there through good and bad, drunk and sober and chances are good that they’ve helped you with the wedding planning quite a bit. Groomsmen gifts are meant to be heartfelt thank-yous, not formalities, so don’t purchase anything that seems like an afterthought. You want your groomsmen to know they’re loved and appreciated and not just standing next to you at the altar because you couldn’t find anyone else willing to don the tux. You can fulfill all of your groomsmen gifts needs at Executive Gift Shoppe.
