Men’s Style Guide Magazines

In ascending flood of men’s magazines on your local stand we picked these three for you which separate themselves from the rest with quality, persistence or uniqueness.

GQ

gqGentlemen’s Quarterly (GQ) is not quarterly like it’s title says, but monthly publication and isn’t about men’s fashion and style news only like it’s official description says, but also about food, fitness, movies, music, sex and other topics targeting heterosexual men with higher income. But dont’t be fooled with these, at first look, big contradictories. GQ actually has well written articles on a wide range of subjects and is one of the best style guide magazines for men. It’s just that some of us would like more content on fashion.

Magazine is rich with great photos (some of them are with beautiful half-naked women) and some consider it as a bad thing, but on the other hand there is a saying that picture is worth thousand words. Instead of reading about some outfit you can look at the picture of that outfit and get the message.

Magazine’s big plus (for some of us, at least) is that it isn’t promoting fads and glamour. It is rather magazine that celebrate classic, timeles style with a slice of new trends. All in all, GQ is magazine that we wholeheartedly recommend.

Esquire

esquireEsquire is magazine with a circulation for more than 70 years. This fact alone should mean something. If you add another fact which says that Esquire’s subscription base is almost 700,000 people you will know that Esquire has something to offer.

Even if in Esquire they say that magazine «deals with the changing role of the American male in today’s society», don’t be turned off by seriousnes of this description. It is true that Esquire’ s articles are more geared toward highly educated men in their 30’s, is more classy (which is good thing) than other mens magazines, doesn’t include nudity (for some good, for others not), features political issues from time to time, but it is also a magazine that will inform you in depth about new fashions, trendy products and some very useful fashion advices.

Details

detailsBetween the numerous new wave pop-culture magazines for men like Maxim, Gear, FHM and many others Details separates from plenty with its longer existence, better fashion coverage and some very helpful practical style tips. Details is actually the originator of this new genre in men’s magazines. It is modern magazine geared toward men in they 20’s. Details may not be the most impressive magazine in regard of deep insightful coverage of topics or holding great humor, but fashion section is surely a thing that is alone worth the subscription price. Many object that Details lack the quality that magazine had in the early days of its appearance on stands. It perhaps was true for a while but feeling is that Details is on track again. At least one big step ahead from the likes of Maxim. In closing, if you are in 20’s and love fashions, you will love Details, too.
