Men’s Loungewear Guide

On Sunday afternoon, when you have nowhere to be and time to unwind, all you feel like doing is lounging around. At times like these, comfort takes precedence over style. However, there’s no reason you can’t feel and look good in your loungewear at the same time. In fact, men’s loungewear is a great area of your wardrobe where you have a lot of freedom to play around with wild patterns and fun colors. These tips, broken down into clothing type, will help you pick out your home clothing that both feels and looks fantastic.

Pajamas & Sweats

pajamasFor days when you have nothing to worry about but reading the paper and watching the game, best are sweatpants or pajama pants with a soft, worn-in t-shirt are the perfect choice. Instead of falling back on your old gray sweats riddled with holes and splattered with paint, invest in a nice pair of cotton or fleece sweatpants with flattering details, such as brightly-colored stripes down the legs. White is in this summer, and white sweats are widely available. Or try a cozy pair of cotton, or even silk, pajama pants. Men’s pajamas are available in a variety of styles, from bright solids to all-over stripes or plaid. With or without a shirt, comfortable and soft fabrics will contribute to quality relaxation time. An added bonus is that your girl won’t be able to keep her hands off men’s loungewear with pleasant tactile qualities.

Shorts

Anything from athletic shorts to boxers are perfect  for down time. As with lounge pants, casual shorts are available in an almost infinite range of fabric and color combinations, from knee-length nylon basketball shorts to mid-thigh cotton or silk boxers. Cotton jersey is always comfortable, and details like stripes and sporty logos can add up the hotness factor. Men’s loungewear is the area to be as crazy and loud as you want to be stylewise, so don’t be afraid to try out blaring, screaming prints and patterns if they appeal to you.

Tops

topsYour choice of top will depend on the weather. Very hot weather may demand shirtlessness. Tanks and t-shirts are also good options for warmer days. Knit long-sleeved tops and hoodies will keep you warm during times of cold weather. All of these options are normally made of comfortable fabrics with a lot of give, but these days, you can find softer and more luxurious brushed cottons to make them even more appealing. In the way of casual wear, not much feels nicer than a broken-in t-shirt.

Sleepwear

Any of the men’s loungewear mentioned above works as sleepwear. Especially if you’re not sleeping alone, try to find something with nice, soft texture. Some guys prefer to sleep shirtless in as little as boxers. Again, try to find soft and supple cottons and other fabrics that are pleasant to the touch. This will reward you and your bedmate. For an extra treat, try silk men’s loungewear like silk boxers or pajama pants.

With loungewear, you have a lot of freedom to explore colors and prints that you might not feel daring enough to wear in public. You have a lot of choice in fabric and style, so you can really run wild with the possibilities and find things that look and feel wonderful.
