Primer to Men’s Bags

By staff
March 22, 2007

A few years ago, mostly Europeans only wore men’s bags. However, with men taking a greater interest in exercise and fashion, there has been an interest in how to carry things around without putting them in pockets. There are some issues to considering what bags you will use.

Mens bagsMen’s bags can be sorted in three types: handbags, gym bags, and carrying bags. Men’s handbags are carried by many men in Europe for the long time now, but never really enjoyed popularity in America. Although some men do carry men’s handbags, it is still an exception in most parts of the world. The trend does tend to follow women’s bags, with an emphasis more towards leathers (real and fake) and dark colors. Men’s handbags also tend to be smaller than women’s handbags, with less decoration. Men’s handbags also tend to not have straps, being made to be carried rather than worn.

Gym men’s bags have been undergoing a renaissance of sorts, as men use them for more situations than just going to the gym. They are used to carry a wide variety of materials to a wide variety of places, and the new bags have been designed for that. Although usually made of nylon, coming with a carrying strap as well as handles, not all men’s bags are designed the same. Some are designed with multiple sections, with or without knobs (to keep them off the ground), and some even have insulation. Also, they have been differentiated by task, so that a bag can securely hold tools, or allow containers to be strapped in. As more men take care of children, the gym bag has also been adapted to fill that need as well.

Carrying bags have seen the most changes of all men’s bags, having to be adapted to an even wider range of applications. Although made more for the young man on the go, any profession that needs a number of tools within easy reach has adopted them. Photographers have also latched onto the bag, especially amateur photographers and videographers who need their cameras with them at all times, and to keep their materials easily sorted (especially in this era of digital media). Computer owners have also given the bag new life, as they need very specialized bags in order to allow for the add-ons and cables of the modern laptop.

Fashion-wise, the carrying bag has a number of options. There is the basic book bag, which is the flattest of the bags, and very nice for keeping paperwork organized. Messenger bags are popular, as the strap has been designed for better back support. The straight carrying men’s bags can be easily changed to any situation, and are available in a lot of fashions and colors.

No matter what you need it for, there is a bag for almost any purpose and situation. Today you can find the bag of your dreams with little searching, so define your needs and have fun!
